Split season between Miami (13 starts, 18 appearances) and Triple-A New Orleans (14 starts)...Went 3-6 with 4.99 ERA (79.1 ip/44 er) for Miami and 7-6, 4.13 (85.0/39) for Zephyrs... Had four stints with the Major League club after beginning season in New Orleans: April 27-June 18; July 1-8; August 28; September 6- season... As a starter, went 2-6 with a 5.48 (70.2/43) for Miami...First start was on April 27 at Dodgers. Went 7.1 scoreless innings and allowed just two hits and two walks while striking out two and earning win in 2-0 victory... Also earned win in second start of season, on May 3 vs. Arizona. Allowed four runs on seven hits (one home run) while walking three across 6.0 innings... Set career high with six strikeouts on May 25 at Tampa Bay and June 10 at Arizona...After final recall on Sept. 6, spent remainder of season in bullpen and went 1-0, 1.04 ERA (8.2/1) across five appearances. Allowed just one run on five hits and struck out seven while walking three...In first career relief appearance on September 13 at Atlanta, tossed 2.0 scoreless-innings of relief, allowing no hits and striking out two... Snapped career-long six-game losing streak on Sept. 13 at Atlanta... In five outings out of the 'pen posted a 7.27 strikeout per nine and a .167 average against, compared to 3.82 so/9 and .322 avg in 13 starts.

Split fifth professional season between Triple-A New Orleans and Miami, combining on a 12-11 record and 3.71 ERA (189.0 ip/78 er)...Established professional highs in games started (32) and innings pitched, besting marks of 28 and 170.1, respectively, in 2014...Began season at New Orleans, posting 2-0 record and 0.79 ERA (22.2/2) in four April starts. Made six starts in May, going 2-1 with 2.79 ERA (38.2/12)...From April 15-May 1, allowed just one unearned run over 24.0 innings pitched...Recalled for first time on June 20 and made Major League that night, holding Cincinnati scoreless over 7.0 innings...Allowed just four hits while walking two and striking out two...Equaled Brad Penny for longest start by a Marlins' pitcher in his Major League debut, as Penny went 7.0 on April 7, 2000 vs. Colorado...Also became fourth starter to allow no runs in ML debut, following Josh Beckett (6.0 ip), Anibal Sanchez (5.2) and Adalberto Mendez (6.0)...Became 10th Marlins starter to win ML debut, with last being Anthony DeSclafani on May 14, 2014 at Dodgers. DeSclafani happened to be the opposing pitcher in Nicolino's ML debut...Optioned to NOLA on June 30 and recalled again on August 11...In four start stretch from Aug. 17-Sept. 1, did not allow more than two runs in any start, going 2-1 with 1.98 ERA (27.1/6)...Struck out season-best four in Aug. 22 no-decision against Philadelphia at Marlins Park. Went season-high 7.2 innings in outing, allowing two runs on five hits (one home run) and a walk...His Sept. 20 start at Washington was his fifth road start of the season, and first in which he took the loss. Spent two-thirds of first season in Marlins' organization with Single-A Jupiter, earning Florida State League Pitcher of the Year honors for his 18 starts with Hammerheads...Made 10 of first 11 starts with Jupiter on road, and 13 of 18 overall...Was 3-2, 2.84 (66.2 IP/21 ER) on road, and 2-0, 0.90 (30.0/3) at home...Did not earn first win with Jupiter until eighth start, on May 14 at Tampa; began a five-game winning streak over span of nine starts, through July 1...Allowed one or no runs in 11 starts with Hammerheads...Held opponents to a .213 average (16x75) with runners in scoring position with Jupiter; that climbed to .389 (21x54) in nine starts with Double-A Jacksonville...Made final start for Jupiter on July 13, a 6.0-inning complete game loss at Daytona, and was promoted to Jacksonville...Lost first two starts for Suns, allowing 11 runs (nine earned) over 8.0 innings combined, before rebounding with wins in two consecutive starts, and three-of-four...Struck out career-high 13 batters in August 16 win over Birmingham, first of two consecutive starts with no runs allowed (13.0 IP combined).
